OUR COMMUNITY
You’re the heart of our acupuncture clinic.
Hi, I’m John Kokko, L.Ac.
My journey as a healer started as a 5-year-old giving back massages to my large extended family (uncles, aunts, brother, mom, and grandmother) after long work days. Having a natural feel for doing bodywork, they gave me the name of "yahk-sohn", which means "medicine hands" in Korean.
My great-grandmother was a traditional herbalist who found a "100-year-old" wild ginseng root in the mountains of our island in Korea. It didn't cross my mind that I would be doing healing work like her until I took a year off of college to do a 'walk-about' in the Pacific Islands and Australia.
There, I met amazing healers who initiated me on a path of healing work. One of them, a Fijian medicine man, Watisoni Vuniivi, inspired me through his connection with nature and spirit. He told me that "the heart is the compass of the soul," and I had to straighten out my heart first. So, I set out to do this.
Meet Mariko Drew, L.Ac.
In a healthcare system that often feels rushed and impersonal, I offer something different—a space where you are truly seen, heard, and supported. As a licensed acupuncturist with advanced training in Chinese medicine, Hakomi psychotherapy for coaches, and Relational Somatic Healing, I blend ancient wisdom with modern neurobiology to support your physical, emotional, and energetic health.
My approach is grounded in whole-person care and nervous system regulation. Through acupuncture, herbal medicine, bodywork, and somatic awareness, I help people experience real shifts—better sleep, reduced stress, pain relief, improved focus, and greater vitality.
I’ve worked with people recovering from injury, navigating autoimmune conditions, undergoing cancer treatment, transitioning through perimenopause, and managing daily life. I also collaborate with other providers to create aligned care.
My path began in my Japanese American family, where East Asian healing arts were honored alongside Western medicine. Raised in San Francisco’s Mission District by artists and activists, I bring a lifelong connection to rhythm, movement, and body awareness. This work is my offering: presence, care, and deeper healing.

True healing happens when we integrate all aspects of ourselves—physical, emotional, and psychological. With a background in Chinese medicine and years of experience in transformational coaching, I help clients release stored tension, reconnect with their bodies, and cultivate deep presence.
My approach is rooted in deep listening—attuning to what your body needs and guiding it back to balance. Whether navigating chronic pain, stress, anxiety, addiction, or emotional blocks, I create a grounded, welcoming space where healing unfolds naturally.
As a lifelong student of movement and energy, I practice Yang-style Taiji and incorporate somatic awareness techniques. I earned a Bachelor of Science from UC Berkeley and a Master’s from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College of Berkeley. Taking a systems-thinking approach, I use Chinese medicine to harmonize the body’s internal ecology.
My own healing journey—including overcoming total paralysis—deepened my respect for the body’s innate ability to restore itself. Now, I share these insights with clients, helping them awaken their capacity for healing and embody a more connected, vibrant life.
Meet Kevin Russell, L.Ac.
My journey into acupuncture blends the mystical and the medicinal, rooted in a lifelong fascination with life's hidden layers.
After being introduced to yoga to combat a personal battle with anxiety and back pain, my exploration of spirituality and the mind-body connection was further deepened by studying Eastern healing traditions and original liberating teachings.
With a degree in chemistry from UC Berkeley and years working in psychiatric care, I saw firsthand the limits of treating the mind without the body. I was inspired to explore holistic healing through Chinese medicine, Daoist and Buddhist teachings, and hands-on modalities that address the whole person.
Now, as a doctoral candidate in Chinese medicine, I specialize in psycho-emotional healing, pain management, and neurological care. I work collaboratively, helping clients uncover patterns, reconnect with themselves, and experience real change. My ultimate goal is to help clients break free from physical and emotional burdens with tools that foster lifelong wellness.
Outside the clinic, I love cooking, wandering in nature, and getting lost in philosophy—simple practices that reflect my core values: liberation and love.
